My Spiritual Awakening has turned to........

general apathy about religion.. i don't know precisely when it happened.

but at some point i began to stop needing anything 'organized' in my life religiously.

not too long ago - as attested to by multiple threads i started here - i was still wishing to replace the ritual of religion at the kingdom hall with some other church.

My respect level for you has gone up another notch! Your a thoughtful poster and I always appreciate your kind words for others. Now your being candid about your spiritual changes,

I too have been a similiar journey into free thinking and it has led me to places I thought I would never go or think. Even another religion or Church still comes with structure and you still would be just associating with those who mainly feel exactly the way you do.

This is what I love about this board, I even enjoy the Atheists V Theists posts because it poses both sides,(although sometimes it gets mean spirited), its still something we never had before and probably doesn'y fully exist in ANY church. A real breath of fresh air!

Isn't it amazing what freedom to think on your own without the guilt feels like.

Don't be surprised if you journey is still a work in progress.. hang in there, this is a good thing.

Parthogenesis: How do creationists explain this?

certain species can actually get pregnant and give birth without any make interaction.

if this doesnt support evolution as the most scientifically accountable theory of our existence what does?!.

Another amazing species is the cuckoo wrasse, where the dominant female will turn into a male if there's no male around to fertilise the shoal.

Good point LT, I've also seen this happen in parts of San Francisco and West Hollywood, HA!

Personally no, I had read it many times before but now I no longer feel the need to reread the same things over and over.

Quoting and memorizing scripture is less important to me now. I don't reread my cars owners guide or the one for my fridge either...

When the thought of being without her, made my heart ache. When the time comes, I hope I die first, I cannot imagine living without her, really.

I had been married twice before and truly believed marriage must not be right for me. I had told friends to put on my tombstone, " boy, did he know how to pick em! "

Convinced I should be a bachelor, I stopped looking. Some friends from a former employer would get together and a certain woman who I worked with who was really short on the phone, never made eye contact and avoided me was coming, I really didn't want to go since I thought she hated my guts or at least the very sight of me. Once it got out I was declining, her friend called and confessed she only acted that way because she really liked me. I ended up going and started up (forced really) a conversaton with her mainly because I was intrigued but to my surprise a friendship started.

The more I was around her, the more I could not be without her. My prevoius marriages never had the passion, the feelings I have for my Wife now. No lie, when our eyes meet across crowded rooms or when she goes to work and looks back once more before she leaves, my knees still buckle.

She is my best friend and the person I admire the most and for the first time, I actually look forward to growing old with someone.

The jury is out for me on whether there is a God or not, but I do know Angels exist, I'm married to one.

jehovah is such a righteous, merciful, loving god -- slow to anger, overflowing with loving kindness and blessing.

yet it somehow bothers many of you that he will shortly execute his judgment on mankind and wipe out 99.9% of the world's population, as if that somehow is supposed to conflict with his loving qualities.

personally, i have no idea why many of you feel this way.

We can trash the Witnesses beliefs all we want ( my favorite pastime ) but if anyone one of us who left still believes in the GOD of the Bible,

it's right up his alley. The flood, Sodom and Gomorrah, were all practice runs for this Armageddon deal, It's laughable but not out of character for our "loving creator "

Great job L, next show the babies drowning at the flood and the little ones being burnt to death at Sodom, Oh yeah don't forget good old HELL.

The Cat was priceless.. No worries though, they always land on their feet!

Why would God...

put us on this planet...giving us life with all its beauty.

flowers, children, relationships, clouds, trees, kittens...then.

tell us we are imperfect human beings and that there are invisible evil forces and demonic influences that are much greater and stronger than we are trying to sway us in the wrong direction.

Seriously though, you can't ignore all the bad things. If god created everything, then he also created the ebola virus, earthquakes, rabies, that dog, my dad's mother, football fish, volcanoes, gnats, ticks, poisonous spiders, deadly snakes, the forbidden fruit, and every other piosonous animal, disease, and natural disaster (or at least the system that spawns natural disasters) etc.
When you take god out of the equation: tsunamis, viruses and ugly/dangerous animals all make sense.

These are the type of questions people who believe in God stay clear of. OK, so blame deadly animals on Adam and Eve, but what about the natural disasters? Adam and Eve's disobedience not only caused imperfection,deadly animals but are also responsible for earthquakes, tsunami's, hurricanes, tornadoes,typhoons and floods and the destructive lighting strikes and the great loss of life natural disasters cause? Wow.. I know,I know, acts of god,right? no wait, acts of Adam and Eve, I need to correct my insurance providers.

How about outside our planet? explain meteors and asteroids? God created the heavens so they could run into each other and litter the universe? An all knowing and perfect God who isn't bound by natural laws wouldn't need all that debris hurling thru space would he?

I'm sure someone will recite from a book that was written long before we were born that will explain everything or will shrug off these questions as somethings we don't know and keep believing in a just and loving creator with blinders on.

where we live is a very *new agey*, *earthy* area.

when i was a witness i never thought twice about my astrological sign or how it relates to anyone else.

here, people are always asking what my sign is and i've really been entertained by how i see patterns with people in my life and how i've noticed i'm actually attracted to certain *signs* .

The Sunday Thread!

i just spent a helluva a long morning in bed even though i was awake early, then did some yoga before breakfast and a piping hot shower.

now i feel like i still have a whole fabulous day to enjoy doing exactly what i want.. in my other life i used to dread sundays.

i would read my book to take my mind off the imminent boredom right up until we got to the hall doors and then 2 hours of monotony would follow - the sickening nerves of making myself answer up, often choking mid sentence because i was so nervous, but worse was to come.

Good topic, My Sunday's used to start when I went to bed Saturday night, dreading the inevitable bed jarring from my parents to get up for the meeting. The only good thing was and most of us remember, what time our Sunday meeting started. If our "rotation " fell on the early meeting, then WOOHOO! there was still a day left to do something. If we drew the late meeting, 4 pm, Sunday was death.

Early meetings had the biggest crowds, funny now as I look back on it because those in other congregations wanted a life too.

Now, Sunday mornings are happy times anticipating anything. Sunday evenings haven't changed though as they remind me of AARRGGHH! work tomorrow.
